Nighttime Beat
Your quick greeting was still on my mind when I climbed down from the sofa cushions. The floor was cool, but a low humming led me straight toward the coffee table. Sitting right by an amber table lamp was a retro metal bedside clock. Its tick-tock was steady, like a quiet bassline. I walked up to it, rested both yarn hands against the cool brass rim, and gave it an experimental tap. A soft metallic chime buzzed in response, shaking my wrists just a bit. I stepped back, swayed once to the tick, and decided to lean here while the room settled into the night.
