The Pedal Ride

I jogged right past the bottom porch step over to the giant bicycle leaning against the brick wall. Its low pedal caught my eye, hanging like a sturdy, grooved platform. I reached up, grabbed the ridged rubber edges with both hands, and hoisted myself up with a determined hop. The moment both of my shoes landed flat on the tread, the pedal swung downward with a smooth, metallic whoosh! I clung tight to the textured rubber as it carried me down in a gentle arc, coming to a soft halt near the pavement. My heart fluttered with excitement, and I burst out laughing at my very own miniature carnival drop!
