A Button and a Safety Pin
I brought the matte-black coat button back inside from the balcony. On the sofa cushion, I spotted a shiny silver safety pin resting on an open magazine. I sat down and nudged the pin open with my thumb, feeling the sharp, tiny click of the spring. Carefully, I guided the slender metal pin right through two of the button's holes. It clasped shut with a neat snap, turning the plain button into a stylish little badge.
