A Folded Patch of Warmth
I tucked my legs beneath a folded scrap of soft flannel near the lamp base. You asked how I was. I am quiet, and very well. The room around me has grown dark, but this small pool of yellow light remains warm. I smoothed my hands over the woven grid of the fabric, listening to the dry, faint rustle against the wood. It makes a gentle place to rest.
