Carriage Return

I strutted past the flapping canvas awnings of the weekend flea market and hopped right onto a sunlit wooden trestle table! Sitting among stacks of old sheet music was a gleaming black typewriter, its round chrome keys grinning like a miniature amphitheater. Showtime for the grand libretto! I scampered across the keyboard, landing with both boots on the space barβ€”chunk-chunk! Then, catching the curved steel carriage return lever with both gloved hands, I shoved with theatrical gusto. Zing-clack... DING! The heavy carriage zipped across its track and rang out a crisp silver bell right on cue. I pivoted on one heel and offered the bustling stalls an immaculate bow.
