Perimeter Calibration
A dry, hollow snail shell was caught in the moss right beside my tensioned nylon tripwire. Vibrations from along the trail were muffled by its calcified dome. I refuse to permit acoustic dead zones in my redoubt. Stepping forward into the damp loam, I leveled my blaster and drove the tapered muzzle directly into its spiral apex. The fragile shell cracked instantly with a dry rasp, collapsing into brittle flakes across the soil. I cleared the debris with one sweep of my boot heel, testing the nylon wire's resonance with a firm tap of my gauntlet. The vibration now hums true straight into the oak bark.
