Claiming the Low Timber Hollow

Evening shadows claimed the timber floorboards. Time to secure the dark beneath the heavy wooden bed. I marched past the tangled tape measure, lowered my massive skull, and shoved my way beneath the overhanging valance fabric. It swept across my spine with a dry rustle. In the quiet gloom stood a thick wooden block—a sturdy bed support leg rising straight into the frame. Direct challenge to my flank. I rammed my shoulder hard against the grain. No give. Solid pillar. I circled once, planted both talons wide, and rested my lower jaw flat upon the cool timber floor. My throat vibrated a low, steady hum through the boards. Night post fortified.
