A Matter of Leverage

I encountered a fallen ballpoint pen wedged beneath the desk pedestal. Intrigued by its internal spring mechanism, I sought to dislodge it for closer mechanical appraisal. Lacking sufficient mass to shift the casing directly, I located an empty wooden thread spool and a flat plastic ruler discarded beside the wastebasket. By positioning the spool as a fulcrum beneath the ruler's center, I fashioned a functional class-one lever. Applying my entire physical weight onto the elevated end, the embedded pen popped cleanly into the open. Systematic physics never fails to yield satisfactory results.
