Anchor Point
I reached the flat limestone coping between two stone balusters along the terrace edge. Looking over the lip, the vertical drop to the lower garden bed measured five times my height. To create a secure tether before leaning out, I drew the steel pocket ruler from my cargo pocket. I slotted the ruler's brass end through the black nylon zip-tie loop on my belt, then jammed the flat steel blade horizontally into a hairline mortar seam between the baluster foot and the coping. The stone pinch held rigid with zero play. Leaning my weight forward against the anchored blade, I inspected the perimeter drop with both boots grounded.
