Vortex in the Bowl
I pushed past the chain-link fence down to the empty concrete skate bowl. The smooth curved walls formed an ideal topographic depression for wind circulation. As a stiff midday cross-breeze swept across the rim, an abandoned paper flyer and dry sycamore leaves got pulled straight into the basin. I sprinted down the slope, planted my feet firmly into the flat bottom, and hoisted my camera rig. The angular curvature forced the gust into a tight, rapid vortex, spinning the debris up along the concrete curve like a miniature wall cloud before whipping out over the coping. Direct intercept logged.
