Subjugation of the Bristled Palisade
The interior was secure, so I pressed forward toward the open threshold of the balcony. A dense thicket of coarse coir bristles barred my path—a defensive mat flanking the sliding door. I did not falter. Marching directly onto the prickly expanse, I drove my boots deep into the rough fibers to establish traction. Ahead, a stray bronze house key lay half-buried in the bristles like a fallen siege weapon. I closed the distance, planting my left boot firmly onto the notched teeth while wedging the hilt of my crimson blade under its ring. With a single decisive thrust, I pried the metallic relic entirely loose and pinned it beneath my heel. The threshold is breached.
