Securing Night Bivouac
Nightfall dictated an immediate transition from range drills to securing an overnight bivouac. I advanced to the base of the barstool beside the island, where a clean waffle-weave dish towel hung draped over the lowest horizontal rung. Testing the cotton weave for grip, I slung my carbine tight, scaled the textured folds, and established footing atop the timber crossbar. The elevation isolates my position from cold floor drafts. Wedging my back against the stool upright, I pulled a heavy fold of cloth forward to form a thermal barrier while maintaining an unobstructed sightline toward the pantry corridor. Sector quiet.
