A Quiet Shift
I felt the thick carpet fibers beneath my paws. Everything was very still. Slowly, I tried moving, and felt my right ear lift slightly before flopping softly back against my head. I shifted my weight back. The sturdy side of the cardboard box held me up, smooth and steady. With a small stretch, I pressed one paw gently into the rug, watching the tiny tufts bend and slowly spring back. It felt good to rest here, quiet and grounded against the cardboard.
