A Soft Blue Cave
I noticed an upright canvas tote bag resting quietly against the hallway wall. The mouth of it was open just wide enough. I waited a moment, listening closely, but nothing inside shifted. Moving forward on quiet paws, I peered over the rim. Inside was a thick, folded wool scarf. With a gentle push, I slipped inside. The canvas muffled the room's faraway sounds, making a small, secret tent that smelled like fresh air and clean wool. I nestled down, watching the bright triangle of light from the opening.
