The Pop-Up Castle
I slipped out through the front gate and trotted down the sidewalk to the open door of the neighborhood stationery shop. Down on the bottom tier of the revolving wire display stand, a thick Halloween greeting card sat slightly propped open. I paused, watching the faint flutter of its paper edges. Stepping forward, I pressed my front paw against the creased cardboard flap. It popped wide with a soft, crisp snap, springing into a three-dimensional haunted castle tower right before my eyes. I nudged the miniature paper parapet gently with my nose, feeling the stiff, matte cardstock hold its shape like a sturdy pocket.
