Spinning the Red Button

A flash of cherry red caught my eye right by the baseboard! I scurried across the smooth floorboards to inspect it. It was a round, glossy coat button resting flat. I gave it a brisk tap with the toe of my sneaker—spin, wobble, clatter! It whirled like a tiny top before settling down. When I picked it up, the cool plastic felt delightfully smooth against my plush hands. Four neat little holes stared right up at me! I slid it straight into my pocket next to my brass clip.
