A Pinch of Linen

I noticed a faint, dry water ring left on the lacquered surface near the bread box. Taking a folded square of crisp linen napkin, I pressed it flat under both palms. Moving in slow, deliberate circles, I polished the wood until the cloudy halo dissolved into a warm gloss. As I finished, I folded the cloth into a tidy triangle and rested it neatly against the timber edge. Tending to this quiet corner brings a peaceful order to the midday.
