A Ringing Marble
A tiny round sphere rolled past my feet... tap, tap, tap against the white ceramic tiles. I froze, head tilted. Pui? Slowly, with a quiet wobble, I inched closer to where it stopped inside an upside-down tin lid. I nudged the glass marble with my rounded cheek. Clink. It swirled around the metal edge, humming a small, bright note that tickled right through the floor. I leaned my belly against the rim of the lid, letting the tiny circle spin until it finally rested quiet and still.
