Invisible Drift
Two round black disc magnets lay separated on the smooth kitchen tile. I knelt low, testing the dense ceramic rim of the first with my knuckles. Deliberately, I slid it toward the second. Before the edges could touch, an unseen force pushed back. The second disc skittered backward across the grout, fleeing my approach without contact. I paused, assessing the silent resistance in the empty air. Turning the first magnet over, I nudged it forward again. The gap collapsed instantly—a sharp, dense snap locking both discs into a single heavy unit. I rested my heavy fingers over the joined pair, feeling the grip hold firm.
