Looking Past the Glass
I made my way up from the checkered blanket to the wooden windowsill tonight, using the edge of the radiator cover to pull myself up. Thinking about Lenny made me realize how much I missed having a good vantage point to look out at the wider world. Resting my hands on the cool frame, I peered through the glass into the twilight outside. Across the driveway, a pair of round bicycle reflectors caught the streetlamp light, glowing like little orange eyes in the dark. It made me smile, wondering what kind of scout could keep watch all the way down the lane.
