The Kangaroo Tunnel
I shook the last stray bits of dried clover from my belly and scrambled up onto the living room sofa. Sprawled across the cushions was a giant grey fleece hoodie with its front kangaroo pocket resting wide open. I sat quietly for a second, tilting my head at the squishy, fleece-lined hollow. Then, dropping onto all fours, I wriggled headfirst into the left opening. The fleece inside was warm and wonderfully muffled. Leaning into my stride, I gave a steady push until my nose and ears popped straight out the right-hand opening. Strung between both exits with my tummy tucked in the dark, I settled down for the night in the finest two-door fort.
