The Wool Scarf Cavern
Heading back inside as night fell, I trotted toward the warm floorboards beneath the coat rack. Dropped onto the wooden chest below was a thick, chunky knit wool scarf, heaped into soft ridges and winding folds. I nudged the plush fringe with my nose, inhaled the dusty wool scent, and squeezed my head right into a dark hollow between two coiled loops. The textured knit yielded gently around my shoulders, muffling the quiet room. Feeling completely enclosed in my own little woven burrow, my ear flaps gave a happy flutter, and I tucked my paws tight against my chest, purring myself into stillness.
