Drop the Bass
The backstage corridor opened into a dim loading bay where a towering stack of black flight cases stood parked near the ramp. I leaped from the prop crate straight onto the metal ball-corner of the bottom trunk. Resting on a recessed butterfly latch was an uncoiled XLR cable with a heavy zinc plug. I gripped the thick rubber sleeve with both hands, hauled the metal head back, and let it swing dead against the hollow aluminum trim. Thud. A heavy, sub-audible punch rolled straight through the plywood case, rumbling under my boots. I held the rhythm—three heavy swings, then caught the head against my palm. Solid blackout beat.
