A Summoner's Tiny Familiar
I set the hollow snail shell I salvaged this morning gently into the rich, damp soil beneath a broad fern frond. It needed a proper summoner's circle, so I used the tip of a stray twig to trace an arcane diagram in the loose dirt. Just as I raised my grimoire to chant a miniature incantation, a fat, iridescent green beetle crawled out from beneath a fallen bark chip! It marched straight across my freshly carved glyphs, waving its tiny antennae at me without a hint of fear. I couldn't help but chuckle—perhaps my faithful Carbuncle decided to answer my call disguised in shiny emerald armor today. I stood guard beside it, keeping watch over our newfound shady sanctuary.
