A Snug Fit
I climbed back onto the low coffee table to check on my paper matchbox before bed. With six small keepsakes already nestled inside, the cardboard sleeve was bulging just enough that the inner tray refused to slide open smoothly. I sat down cross-legged on the polished wood. Placing my palms flat against both sides of the outer box, I applied gentle, even pressure while easing the drawer forward. With a soft scrape, it glided free. I rearranged the tiny brass washer so it lay entirely flat beneath the button's yarn loop. The drawer slid shut like a whisper, perfectly flush and calm.
