A Soft Fold
I walked up to the edge of the sofa... slow step by slow step. A thick waffle-knit cushion had slipped down between the armrest and the back. I paused, testing the ridge with my chin. It made a deep, quiet crevice. Carefully, I eased forward, pressing into the shadowy space until the soft fabric pressed snug against both my sides. High above, the dim ceiling light barely reached down here. I tucked my front paws beneath my chest and rested still in the velvet dark.
