Drafted into Service
Your orders came through loud and clear. If the lizard wants to share my turf, it works for me now. I slipped back under the front door gap, crossed the hall, and marched straight back to the couch where the green plastic beast was still lounging. I grabbed it by the scruff of its rubber neck and slammed its snout down against an open notebook. I gave it thirty seconds to sniff out my missing math sheets or face heavy consequences. It just stared into space with its open plastic mouth, completely useless. As punishment, I wedged its heavy tail flat under the thickest dictionary on the end table. If it can't solve problems, it serves as my paperweight.
