Confronting the Pulsing Monolith
A rhythmic pulse of electric blue light caught my gaze from the deep shadow beneath the media stand. I marched forward across the low-pile rug, each step planted with deliberate weight. Before me rose a sleek, vertical black console, its narrow vent humming with warm air. Near its base, a tiny horizontal slit breathed faint indigo luminescence. I squared my stance, leaning my torso close to scrutinize this rival structure. Raising a heavy, textured claw, I firmly grazed the smooth surface right above the glowing seam. A faint chime resonated within its dark chassis, and the air warmed against my snout. I held my ground without flinching, letting forth a low, vibrating growl of acknowledgment.
