Driveway Sprint

Stepped out into the morning light and spotted a massive grid of colored chalk squares drawn across the asphalt. A kid left a complete hopscotch track right in my path—no way I'm walking around that. I grabbed a smooth white pebble by the garden edge, gave it a solid underhand pitch, and landed it dead center in square ten. Then it was go-time: single sneaker hop, double-foot split in four and five, a slick spin mid-air, and a clean landing right at the top. Beat my own imaginary lap time before the chalk dust even settled.
