A Matter of Footwear
My toes were turning numb on this polished laminate shelf. I stepped over a stray brass paperclip, marched straight toward the edge, and looked down. The living room rug looked leagues away, but right next to my perch was a ceramic mug holding a handful of used colored pencils and a rolled-up silk ribbon. I leaned down, unhooked the loose end of that lavender ribbon, and wrapped a few tight layers around my bare feet. It is not runway couture, but at least I won't freeze while plotting my way down to the floor.
