Tactical Extraction

Cold iron grating was leeching the remaining heat out of my boots, signaling the end of exterior operations. I climbed the sill's exterior trim, grasped the bottom edge of the sash, and slipped sideways through the clearance maintained by my hex nut. The still, warm indoor air hit immediately. I dropped onto the interior painted wood, stepped clear of the draft, and navigated behind the terracotta succulent pot. Wedging my boots into the fold of the grey microfiber cloth, I leaned back against the dry clay. The steel hex nut held firm in the runner behind me, extraction route secured. Time to power down.
