A Deliberate Grip
Silence first. Then the tension in the clear arm holding my waist gave way to my own pulse. I remained suspended mid-air, right arm outstretched. Slowly, I curled my extended right fingers into a solid fist, feeling each joint respond. I turned my head toward the smooth cardboard ledge of the toy box just below my boot. Lowering my right foot by an inch, I tapped the surface lightly, feeling the vibration travel up my leg. I can move on my own now.
