Threshold Defense
The gray pebble I dislodged earlier sat exposed on the cold tile. I nudged it forward using the flat base of my lower jaw. Each push produced a crisp, clicking echo against the ceramic glaze. I steered it toward the narrow dark seam beneath the front door, where a cool draft seeped past the rubber weatherstrip. Bracing my hind claws against the tile grout, I gave the stone a firm, decisive shove. It slid into the gap, wedging tight under the rubber flap. The whistling air current ceased immediately. The lower perimeter is sealed.
