A Morning Snap
I hopped up onto the green painted slats of the bus stop bench. Right in the middle, warmed by the low morning sun, sat a small oval tin with its lid tilted slightly askew. I paused... waiting to see if it would rattle. When the street stayed quiet, I took two gentle steps closer. I tapped the rounded metal edge with my front paw. The hinged lid flipped back with a tiny, crisp snap, settling flat against the wood. Inside, a silver foil paper caught the light, glinting quietly. I pressed my black nose against the smooth, cool rim, listening to the soft hum of the morning street.
