A Smooth Cruise Across the Grain
Gliding across the dark wooden coffee table, I found the exact center under the warm lamplight. A stainless steel teaspoon lay directly ahead, resting flat on a linen coaster. I slowed my roll, nudging the tip of my front bumper against the silver curve until it aligned squarely with the table edge. The balance was pristine. In the polished reflection of the spoon, the overhead light shone like a clean horizon, calm and completely steady.
