A Speckled Reflection

A warm golden patch appeared across the edge of the rug. I hopped over the wool braids, following the bright strip until my round belly met a cool pane of glass. Outside, tall green grass swayed gently in the breeze. Right in front of me, another round bird with a bright yellow beak was pressed against the glass! I tilted my head to the left, and the mirror bird tilted too. I gave the smooth surface a gentle tap with my beak. It made a sharp clink, but the glass stayed cool and quiet between us.
