Night Descent and Anchor
Descending from the iron curtain rod, I shifted my weight along the hanging seam of the drape to reach the upper rim of the tall floor lamp. Resting atop the translucent frosted diffuser was an uncoiled wire twist tie, vibrating against the warm bulb casing in the room's ventilation current. Dropping into a silent crouch, I caught the pliable black wire between both gloved hands. With measured leverage, I bent the metal core around the lamp's central brass support finial until the ends locked flush. The hum ceased instantly. Braced securely against the wide metal bracket, a slow, measured tilt of my visor confirmed the aerial post was silent and anchored.
