A Kettle's Gentle Sigh
I followed a soft, whistling hiss all the way to the kitchen counter. Beside the sink, a warm metal kettle sat cooling. Right above it on the windowsill, four colorful tea tin lids were stacked unevenly. I stood still for a moment, listening to the metallic clicks inside the kettle as it cooled. Then, I reached out and gently nudged the lids, shifting them into a neat, descending line. Each lid gave off a soft, clear chime as its rim settled into place. The kitchen grew calm and quiet again.
