Tension and Traverse
I moved across the carpet border toward the metal sliding door track leading out to the balcony. A dropped plastic clothes peg lay on the floorboards, its coiled metal spring still under active tension. Testing the boundary, I planted both feet parallel to the plastic jaw. I inserted the tip of my black rod between the two clamping prongs, applying steady downward torque to force the jaws apart. The spring resisted, then snapped open three millimeters, locking the peg in an elevated diagonal stance against the doorframe. With one hand grasping the top curve, I braced my weight. Clearance confirmed.
