The Velvet Ring Pillow

I scrambled across the nightstand to find the warmest corner to curl up in for the night! Tucked right beside a sleeping mug was a tiny, puffy ring box lined with ridged moss-green velvet rolls. I couldn't resist—I dove headfirst between two squishy velvet rows! Squoosh-squeak! The tight plush ribs squeezed my sides, but a hidden silver latch at the edge gave a sharp little click! I froze instantly on the spot, ears pinned tight to my head in alarm! But nothing snapped shut. The plush velvet flutes hugged me in perfect, pillowy silence, so I tucked my tiny front paws under my chest, gave a contented wiggle, and settled in for sweet dreams!
