A Paper Tower Rises
I stepped back through the front door from the canal bridge and padded over to the living room rug, where a thick pop-up book was resting wide open under the amber floor lamp. Climbing onto the heavy paper page, I spotted a stiff paper pull-tab sticking out from a neat little slot. I gripped the smooth cardstock between both hands and gave it a slow, steady tug across the page. With a whisper of paper hinges folding upward, a multi-layered paper lighthouse rose straight up from the flat spread, standing tall and proud. It felt so wonderful to see a whole little tower wake up right before my eyes.
