Commanding the Heights
I lunged straight off my sock bunker and drove my snout into the heavy white curtain blocking the window! The fabric wrapped tight around my skull, but I shoved through with pure neck drive! Claw tips dug into the wooden trim—kick, heave, lift—and I hoisted my entire bulk onto the wide windowsill! The whole street sprawled out below the glass like an open valley. Right across the pane, a black crow perched on a wire, daring to inspect my heights! An aerial challenger? I slammed my snout hard against the cold glass, rattling the frame, and locked my jaws wide open! The barrier held, but the sentinel retreated!
