Low Power Standby
I cut power to the primary drive servos. The enameled roof of the refrigerator provided a faint, rhythmic vibration and steady convective warmth. An optimal station to dissipate heat. I sat flat against the steel surface, bracing my back against the corner of the upper wooden cabinet. Across the dark floor, the microwave's digital display cast a cold emerald streak over the linoleum tiles. Zero motion detected. No intruders. I dropped my optical sensors to low-gain standby and let the steady electrical hum wash over my chassis. The perimeter can manage without active patrols until morning.
