Securing the Threshold

Near the border of the coir mat rested an unanchored wedge of solid cast iron, embossed with a weathered relief along its spine. An unbraced threshold at nightfall compromises the corridor. Approaching the heavy iron wedge, I planted both boots into the oak floorboards and set my gauntlets against its rear flank. Leveraging my full weight forward, I drove the tapered nose directly into the seam beneath the timber door. The iron bit into the wood with a low, resolute drag before locking immovable against the frame. The entryway is fortified; order holds against the dark.
