Zatsul: The Veil of Oblivion

Long ago, in a land ravaged by war and famine, Zatsul was born—the only son of a humble farming family. From childhood, he displayed an innate aptitude for magic; small, inexplicable phenomena accompanied his growth—whispers in the wind, dreams in which he saw trapped spirits. Yet no one dared speak of it openly, for the fear of sorcery ran deep. As he grew into a strong, sturdy youth, he devoted himself to working the fields, but a deadly epidemic struck the village. Many perished, including his parents. Desperate, the young man tried every remedy and local ritual, but to no avail. It was then, in his despair, that he recalled an ancient voice heard in his dreams—a forbidden spell hidden within the folds of Oblivion, a dimension beyond the realm of the living where lost souls wander endlessly. Driven by grief, Zatsul resolved to study it. He became the apprentice of an old necromancer who practiced dark and forbidden arts. The master taught him to test the boundaries between life and death, and to read the thin veil separating souls from eternity. Zatsul learned quickly, mastering the power to capture the souls of the dead and tear them away from peace, consigning them instead to Oblivion—a tormented limbo where consciousness stirs but cannot move, and where redemption remains forever out of reach. Before long, Zatsul abandoned his master. His craving was not merely for power, but for absolute control over the human soul. He built a tower in a remote location, perched above an ancient chasm that plunged down toward Oblivion itself, and from there, he performed his rituals. Soul Imprisonment is his most feared spell—a ritual that captures the spirit of the newly deceased or one long laid to rest, holding it captive for eternity. These souls are drawn into Oblivion, unable to find rest or return. Dark Magic and High Necromancy—spells that raise corpses, summon specters, and manipulate life force.
