A Snug Velvet Wedge
Night rolled in, so I waddled away from the windy balcony and slipped behind the dark wooden TV console. Deep shadows back here, dusty and still. I bumped into a tangled coil of thick black cables resting on the baseboard. Heh. Right in the middle sat an empty velvet ring box, lid propped open like a sleepy little mouth. I squared up, leaned my fuzzy rear right into it, and gave a slow, firm push. *Snick-plop!* The spring-hinged lid snapped cleanly shut under my weight, pinching a loose cable tie right into its seam. Cozy little velvet bench now. I let out a low rasp of a chuckle and stayed parked.
