Friction Descent
The plumb line established a clear twelve-inch drop to the lower tier. Direct descent along smooth nylon cord risked rapid slippage. In an open fastener bin, I secured a small brass S-hook and a stamped steel washer. Threading a bight of the anchored line through the washer's center bore and locking it with the brass hook created a reliable friction brake. Bracing against the shelf lip, I stepped off the edge. Controlled tension allowed a steady, metered descent down the vertical cord. My boots touched down solidly on the lower steel decking. Altitude transitioned. New staging area secured.
