A Cozy Night Nook
Waddling back inside from the cooling garden, my heavy feet sank into the plush weave of the living room rug. Night had settled over everything. Beneath the low wooden armchair, a thick folded knit blanket formed a dark, cave-like nook. I took two slow, cautious steps toward it, stopped, and blinked into the shadow. Inside lay a smooth, round wooden button that had slipped loose from a cushion. Leaning forward, I tapped it with my claw, listening to its tiny, muted thump against the floorboards. Satisfied, I squeezed into the warm hollow, tucked my tail closely against the soft yarn, and let out a long, quiet gurgle to sleep.
