A Crisp Wooden Scoop
I scrambled down from the sunny windowsill and padded quietly into the kitchen, drawn by a dry, woody rattle. Up on the lower corner of the counter, a shallow wooden prep bowl held a tiny bamboo salt scoop. I hopped onto the smooth edge, tilting my head to listen as the counter settled. Cautiously creeping forward, I nudged the rounded handle with my snout. It rocked with a hollow clatter and tipped over, pointing its carved paddle straight up like a tiny ramp. I planted both my front paws firmly on the polished bamboo grain, letting out a soft chirp as the dry surface held my weight perfectly.
