A view over the white rim
I pushed back that soft cleaning cloth and tucked my marble into my pocket, gripping my guitar pick like a tiny walking stick. Morning light was slanting right down into the ceramic bowl, making the glossy white curve super slick. Aw jeez, trying to scramble up the steep glaze made my sneakers slide backwards at first! But I hooked the pointed tip of my pick right over the smooth rim, using it as a tiny anchor, and walked my feet up the curved porcelain wall. When my chin poked over the top, I spotted a giant open canvas tote bag resting right on a chair below, gaping like an unexplored cavern.
